Fandoms in this post: The Man from U.N.C.L.E., The Man from U.N.C.L.E. movie, Sherlock Holmes, Sherlock Holmes in the 22nd Century, His Dark Materials

Bleh. Things have been very thingish lately. I feel a bit lost trying to write up the fics I've read over the past six plus weeks. Yet I want to get it done. I've decided that I am just going to offer some brief notes so that I can move on.

The fics I had collected were:

Waging World Peace by Alex51324 (The Man from U.N.C.L.E.; 32,445 words; slash)
I have read this fic multiple times. I even read it to my mother on a road trip as an example of good fan fiction. After this latest reading, it remains one of my very favorite fics in any fandom.

I Blame You by Alex51324 (The Man from U.N.C.L.E. x The Man from U.N.C.L.E. movie; 535 words; slash)
This is a short, silly fic in which the Illya and Napoleon of the MFU TV show, who in the fic are real people, exit the theater after seeing the MFU movie, a fictional story loosely based on their lives. It's very fun.

Internal System Reboot by mistyzeo (Sherlock Holmes x Sherlock Holmes in the 22nd Century; 6,316 words; slash)
I collected this fic in February after reading it for the 2016 round of Lifetime Fic Bingo. It is the story of Holmes's interactions with the robot facsimile of Watson that he meets when he is resurrected in the future. I found it fascinating on my first read and also on my second.

The new fics I read were:

Ciphers by Alex51324 (The Man from U.N.C.L.E. movie; 5,770 words; gen)
This is a story of the MFU movie team getting to know each other and finding common ground. It's very well done.

The Vast Profundity Obscure by mistyzeo (Sherlock Holmes x His Dark Materials; 20,613 words; slash)
This is a Sherlock Holmes dæmon fic that makes inventive use of some of the ideas from Philip Pullman's series. I enjoyed it a lot.

During this step of the Old and New Project, I abandoned one fic by each of the authors whose work I was delving into, because I was not enjoying it. That has not happened before during this project, but it is a useful reminder not to give up on an author just because you don't like one of their fics. Alex51324 wrote both a fic I didn't want to finish reading and one of my all-time favorites.
