Prosfic Bingo: N is for Night Visit, E is for The Eve of Destruction

[livejournal.com profile] dawnebeth's most recent bingo post reminded me how much I like Don't Let the Sun Catch You Crying by [livejournal.com profile] istia. Between that and [livejournal.com profile] shooting2kill's accompanying comment that istia is a fine writer who could use more attention, I decided to sample a couple more of istia's fics. I chose Night Visit and The Eve of Destruction.

Night Visit is an unusual fic. I wished there were more of it, but I enjoyed it as far as it went, and as written it did have the feeling of a small bubble of time set apart from the rest, which fit its story. B/D slash. 4,343 words.

The Eve of Destruction is a fic told from Cowley's point of view, which endears it to me as a Cowley fan. I thought it was a very believable glimpse into Cowley's thoughts as he faces the stresses of his position. B/D slash. 3,751 words.

A Prosfic bingo card with the letters E, M, N, T, and X filled in.

E: The Eve of Destruction by istia (3,751 words)
M: Masquerade by Tarot / Chris_Quinton (46,299 words)
N: Night Visit by istia (4,343 words)
T: Tea for Two by Alexandra (70,187 words)
X: X Marks the Spot by O Yardley (4,556 words)

Total words: 129,136

I don't think it is going to take me all year to fill up my bingo card. Not unless I make a rule only to count novel-length fics, anyway. Fanfic is all I read most of the time. That is not ideal, of course, but I have my own strange, chelonian reasons. Maybe when I finish this card I will just start another one.

I absolutely agree with [livejournal.com profile] shooting2kill, [livejournal.com profile] istia is definitely an author worth checking out — and re-reading.

Have you read Til a Bullet Stopped His Song by Callisto ?

Or Into the Arms of Morpheus by JoJo

They're both short — but I like them for encapsulating vulnerability and sensibility without going into overblown emotional pyrotechnics.
