It's time for another episode of The Turtle Show!
After encountering lomelinde (![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
lomelinde_laurea) on the Bistocon Discord, I went and had a look at their Professionals fics. It turned out I had missed the majority of these when they were posted due to glitches in AO3's RSS feed. (Again. Arg.) Most of the ones I caught up on are too short to count toward this challenge, Into the Light of a Dark Black Night being the exception.
Into the Light... is a crossover between The Professionals and the 1970s British TV show Survivors, in which the world population has been decimated by a pandemic. I didn't love this fic as much as Lainie Stone's Heat, to which it bears some resemblance—that would be high praise indeed, since Heat is one of my favorite Pros fics—but I still admired it. It is a slice-of-life story depicting Bodie, Doyle, and Cowley's existence in the wake of the terrible event. 5,175 words. Bodie/Doyle slash. Particularly recommended.

Coming Home by shadowycat is a Sherlock Holmes fic in which Watson gets amnesia. I said in a recent Professionals-related thread that I like amnesia stories, and I did enjoy this one overall. I found it a little slow, however, and not all of the characterization rang true to me; some of the emotions felt a little overdone. On the other hand, it was somewhat unusual in being told in the first person from the perspective of the amnesiac character, which added interest. 17,864 words. Holmes/Watson slash.
On Track by ML Mead is a Professionals story that I read aftermacklingirl added it to her bingo card. In this fic, Bodie and Doyle visit a preserved historical railway. This seems to be something about which ML Mead had quite a bit of knowledge, so there is plenty of interesting detail. I found the plot a little lacking, however. 3,619 words. Bodie/Doyle slash.
Ours But to Do bybardicvoice is another Professionals fic. In this one, Bodie and Doyle must babysit a gangster who has agreed to give evidence. This story is great. The plot is well constructed, the characterizations are excellent, and the dialog is impeccable. It is a gen fic, but I think the relationship between the Lads is vibrant enough to satisfy gen-skeptics. (Hello, byslantedlight.) Indeed, I think the fic gives insight into the basis a slash relationship could be built on. 7,852 words. Gen. Particularly recommended.
The Other Tenant bytweedisgood is a Sherlock Holmes fic. It is told from Mrs. Hudson's point of view and has to do mostly with the doings of a non-canonical lodger at 221B and his interactions with her and with Holmes and Watson. I've wondered before whether there were other tenants there, so this story caught my eye. It is told in a beautifully executed character voice and is quite interesting as a period piece. I did find its changes in tone a little disorienting, though. 6,134 words. Holmes/Watson slash.

At the end of this fic, Bodie plays guitar. He does that in one episode of canon, but I don't think I've ever encountered him doing it in fic before. Curious.
