I needed distracting today, and I spent a major portion of the time reading All the Queen's Men by Victoria Racklyft.
This is a plotty casefic set in the canon universe, but with prominent fantasy elements. I'd read it before, so I knew it was something I liked, and I had a good time reading it. It's exciting and imaginative with good atmosphere. It does make Doyle a little too vulnerable, in my opinion, but not enough that it becomes a major distraction. The fic also has very nice illustrations by Suzan Lovett. 60,057 words. B/D slash with het.
