Writing (Up) Better Write-Ups
Jan. 28th, 2023 07:35 pmHello out there! I get intermittent likes and comments on my fanfic write-ups, so I assume someone is reading them even when there is no feedback. Today I've been thinking about how I might make my write-ups better, and I wonder if anyone who has been following my posts has any suggestions. Do you like the write-ups? How would you change them? What would you like to know about the fics I read?
It's been my practice during my 2022 and 2023 reading games to avoid spoilers very strictly when writing up fics. That seems in line with fandom etiquette, but it hampers discussion quite a bit. For instance, I didn't get to talk about my feelings about suicide as a romantic gesture in connection with one fic I read recently, because there was no way to do so without spoilers. (They would have been major ones in that case, but I have mostly been avoiding even fairly minor ones.) What spoiler level do you think is best for my fic write-ups? Should I change or carry on as I have been?
