As in 2021 and 2022, I am celebrating by posting recs from an assortment of fandoms and covering each of three fanwork categories. This year, since crossovers seem to be the theme of AO3's festivities, I have included at least one crossover in each category. Also, this year I'm offering a few more recs, so that there will be more content from the two fandoms I know I have in common with most of my readers. I hope you'll see something you like.

Once a King or Queen in Narnia by Zana
The Professionals x The Chronicles of Narnia; some het with background Bodie/Doyle; 6,145 words
In this fic, Susan Fisher, CI5 agent, is also Susan Pevensie, queen of Narnia. That premise may sound like it couldn't possibly work, but it really does. In this case, the contrast between the fandoms serves the themes of the story rather than being a distraction. This is my favorite crossover in Professionals fandom, and possibly any fandom.
The Thing About Starbuck by Karen
Battlestar Galactica (original series); Apollo/Starbuck slash; 2,055 words
This is one of the first pieces of fanfic I ever read. About 15 years ago, StumbleUpon served me up another of the fics on this site, presumably because I had marked science fiction as an interest. I stuck around to explore, reading quite a few of the offerings. It was a beguiling introduction to fanfic, as Karen is a good writer. That's evident in this fic, in which Apollo reflects on Starbuck's character, providing insights about both of them.

This is another fic that I enjoy for the insight it provides, this time into Raffles character and motivations.
The Commotion in the Commissary Affair byotherhawk
The Man from U.N.C.L.E.; gen; 4,818 words
MFU canon tended to ignore the Cold War. This fic shows some of the ways it might have affected a cross-Curtain partnership such as Illya and Napoleon's. It is beautifully done, as otherhawk's fics tend to be.
