You and I have most of the same likes and dislikes in fic. About the only exception is that I’ve never been able to get into “daemon” fic … but maybe that’s because I didn’t care for the first few I read and stopped reading them.
I particularly dislike long separations, permanent disability (no matter how good a writer Aconitum is, I shudder just at the thought of her To Live A Little series) and weak/submissive/infantilized Illya. I wouldn’t even try to pick a favorite in those categories, because I avoid reading them.
In the “undercover as gay” category, if I had to pick one for MFU I’d probably choose Cord Smithee’s Professionals. http://www.chromeandgunmetal.com/chrome/archive/1/professionals.html The scenario is perhaps a little difficult to believe (ie that a top UNCLE agent could just walk into THRUSH Central), it has tones of rape/non consent, and it’s a bit more graphically violent than I like (or thought was necessary) in a couple of places, but it manages the “undercover as gay” theme while keeping both of the guys in character, which is unusual in fics with that kind of theme.
