Stats from My Beloved Collection
Jul. 10th, 2021 01:47 amTonight I've been playing with my Beloved Collection (which is the name I've given to my archive of all-time favorite fanfics). I counted the number of fics I've collected in each of my two main fandoms, The Man from U.N.C.L.E. and The Professionals. I also made lists of the authors of the fics, with tallies of how many fics in my collection each author had written. Below are some of the results.
My MFU folder contains 149 fics by 73 authors. The most represented authors are:
jantojones (12 stories)
AconitumNapellus (
aconitumn) (10 stories)
otherhawk (8 stories)
azdak (6 stories)
jessebee, Lee_the_T (
leethet), and
spikesgirl58 (5 stories each)
channeld (4 stories)
My Pros folder contains 97 fics by 47 authors. The most represented authors are:
jat_sapphire (12 stories)
PR Zed (
przed) (8 stories)
Corvidology (
draycevixen) (6 stories)
fiorenza_a (5 stories)
byslantedlight (4 stories)
The authors who have written in both MFU and Pros fandoms are Fiorenza_a,
laceymcbain, and PR Zed (who are represented by different works in each folder), as well as Debra Hicks and
jj_minerva (who are represented by crossovers located in both folders).
(See the comments for more stats.)
Addendum: It should go without saying that plenty of factors besides my enjoyment of an author's works can influence how many of their fics appear in my collection. These include how many stories an author has posted and where I've focused my reading, among other things.

I find I occasionally binge read writers, so that would have a tendency to skew things I expect. My saved fic is still mostly on my other computer, so I will have to wait a while, but I've started trying to capture what I've read with a short review in my Kapusta posts. Problem is, I haven't had time to read much.
I did start reviewing my reading history, so maybe I'll pick that up again.
I haven't tried reading all the BB stories, but after you posted about the 'missing' story, I thought working my way through from the beginning might be a splendid wheeze. And I often bookmark stories picked up from things like
Have you checked out the Pros Lib CD, I believe that's still a thing. I keep meaning to sign up for it myself...

(Excuse me if I knew at one point that there was a turtle fic and have forgotten. It happens to me a lot.)

I exchanged a couple of emails with hagsrus about it, but haven't actually gotten it together to order one. It's definitely on my list.

That does sound fun. If you do it, I hope you will write about your impressions.

Yes, I want to write a lot more about what I'm reading because I enjoy it when other folk do :0)
