Blurbs

I've collected a large selection of fics to read as part of my Lifetime Fic Bingo game. While I was researching and collecting, I kept a list of the fics, with short notes to remind myself what they were. Tonight I've been reading back over those and finding some of them amusing. Here's a selection:

Fandle

"TinTurtle" is my fandle.

I invented this word yesterday, though I doubt I'm the first to have done so.

Nanu nanu, sunshine

Earlier today, I heard someone mention Garry Marshall. That name was new to me, so I looked him up. He turns out to have been an all-rounder in both TV and movies (writer, actor, director, producer), and one of the things he had a hand in, according to Wikipedia, was "Mork and Mindy (1978–1982)." Of course, my first thought on seeing that was, "'Mork and Mindy (1978–1982)'...The Professionals (1977-1983)...crossover?" This is your brain on fandom, kids.

Out of the Mouths of Muggles

Last week, I told my mother a bit about a fanvid I’m working on. Today, I talked to her again, and she said, "How’s your fanflick going? Is that what it’s called?" Why on earth is that not what it is called?

Back in the Saddle

I'm making progress on a new Pros vid after roughly six months of alternating false starts and apathy. I have a point of view and a brainstorming grid, and I've begun filling in clips. Now the only question is: Will people still love me if I use a country song?

The Benefits or Perils of Vidding

I have been working on a new fanvid for The Professionals. One of the things involved in that process is watching one's chosen clips over and over (and over). While doing this, one inevitably begins to notice details that one missed on earlier viewings....such as how tight the heroes' pants actually are. Wow.

What Genre?

A bit of prattle from an obscure corner of the Internet:

Olly says, "In Act One, our heroes can't stand each other."

Olly asks, "Will they have a fistfight and then become fast friends, or will they slowly realize their attraction to each other and live happily ever after? What genre is this?"

Olly says, "Well, this is slash fiction based on a macho action show. So maybe they will have a fistfight, become fast friends, then slowly realize their attraction to each other and live happily ever after."
