WIPs

I have WIPs. Plural. Imagine that.

And both of them are in the first person. After I wrote my first and so far only fanfic, I told myself I would never write in the first person again. Character voice is hard (especially if the character speaks a different variant of English than you do) and if you are writing in the first person, you have to keep up the character voice through the entire fic. And yet. And yet. Here I am doing it again.

At this point, I don't have enough data to know whether this is something I am prone to, or whether it was simply the natural choice for what I happened to be writing, three times in a row. It could also be a newbie thing. Only time will tell, I suppose.

Technically they should always be WIP, because the last letters of words aren't added to acronyms - work in progress or works in progress - but somehow WIPs just always sounds right. *g* Either way - go for it!

I remember thinking I'd never write in the present tense, and then being stuck on a fic and realising that was because the way it worked best was in present tense, and that was the only way I could write it (On Such a Night) Funny how things make sense to us somewhere deep inside our subconscious!

My existing fic is almost entirely in the present tense, as is one of my WIP. The other WIP is mostly past but has present tense bookends. I am in the now, apparently.
