I have WIPs. Plural. Imagine that.

And both of them are in the first person. After I wrote my first and so far only fanfic, I told myself I would never write in the first person again. Character voice is hard (especially if the character speaks a different variant of English than you do) and if you are writing in the first person, you have to keep up the character voice through the entire fic. And yet. And yet. Here I am doing it again.

At this point, I don't have enough data to know whether this is something I am prone to, or whether it was simply the natural choice for what I happened to be writing, three times in a row. It could also be a newbie thing. Only time will tell, I suppose.

You are brave. I've done a few first persons fics, but find them a challenge.

Not sure how we got here, but WIPs is the common usage when abbreviating. I think 'Work in Progresses' might still raise a few eyebrows!

Things have to evolve or we'd still be talking about 'cellos and 'buses.

It took me a while to evolve a comfortable style, mine is third person, but that's just me (I find it awkward to write 'I' when what 'I' am doing is clicking away at a computer and what my protagonist is doing is dismantling an atom bomb (in a bowling ball). Possibly further evidence of my limited imagination 😊

Apols if this is teaching you to suck eggs (a thing which gets up my nose) but are you aware of [livejournal.com profile] picowrimo - it's a fixture of November, and is great for motivation and support - just wish I had time to join in. Work has been ridiculous.
